My head is still kind of reeling from last season and I feel
like I’m letting all of what happened sink back in slowly. I’m still not sure how I feel about
this whole Billith to Hep-V storyline, but it’s what we’ve got and I love
TrueBlood so I’ll give it a chance.
I am however pissed that they are STILL stringing us along about
Eric. That in it self better be
one damn good storyline!
We left off last season with Pam looking for Eric, who
better not have died by burning while sun-bathing on a snow covered
mountain. The search left Willa
and Tara as baby vampire orphans trying to make it on their own. Sookie and Alcide got together and
Sookie decided to start dressing like a little old lady instead of the town
slut. (Actually, I don’t think she
looked slutty, but in comparison to her flowered dress and hat in the season
finale I’m sure Maxine Fortenberry would’ve called her previous attire
slutty.) Governer Burrell’s attempted
genocide on the vampires left the humans almost defenseless against a mass army
of infected Hep-V vampires with nothing to lose. The few vampires left who aren’t infected are doing what
they can to protect what is left of the human race. Sam is mayor of Bon Temps and Merlotte’s is now Bellefluer’s.
I’m going to refer to the Hep-V infected vamps as the HV
vamps and the non-infected vamps as the NI vamps. I’m lazy and I’m not continuously spelling those out. Okay…
We go right back in to the scene at Bellefleurs. All hell breaks loose at the mixer as a
swarm of HV vamps attack the crowd.
The NI vamps do what they can to save the humans, but the HV vamps
overpower them. They end up
kidnapping Arlene, Holly, Kevin, Nicole (and Sam’s baby) and Jane
Bodehouse. Sam and Alcide shift to
follow them, but lose their scent at the river. I’m a little confused as to why Alcide would leave Sookie
unguarded. The HV vamps leave a
slew of casualties including Tara.
(I’ve wanted her dead for 5 seasons, and when I finally like her you
kill her off! Be careful what you
wish for.) We hear a whistle and
all of the HV vamps disappear into the night.
Jason calls Andy and tells him what has happened. Andy leaves Adeline at home with
Jessica outside to guard her. He
tells Adeline not to invite Jess in under any circumstances and then brutally
tells Jessica that Tara has been killed.
Inside Bellefleur’s (still weird), Sookie hears everyone’s
thoughts and they all seem to want to blame her for being a vampire slut. She slept with two vampires and I don’t
think it had any correlation to what happened. Well, maybe, but I’m pretty sure Governer Burrell would’ve
still gone on to make the Hep-V Trueblood.
Alcide and Sam return.
A man named Vince (who was Sam’s competition for Mayor) sees them change
from animals to men. Bill says the
HV vamps will be nesting, so the men decide to go check some abandoned
buildings. Sookie overhears Alcide
wondering how she could have ever loved a vampire and basically blaming her for
the situation as well. She has
enough and leaves.
Vince confronts Sam and tells him he saw him change from a
dog. Sam tries to convince him
otherwise, but it doesn’t work. So
he finally asks Vince to keep his secret, as the people of Bon Temps can’t
handle another curve ball at the moment.
Bill commands the NI vamps to escort their humans home and the humans in
turn let the NI vamps feed so they can be strong enough to protect them. He tells James to take Lafayette home.
Sookie walks home by herself while Alcide calls and gets her
voicemail. She is drinking when
Alcide gets home. He yells at her
for walking home alone. She tells
him she read his thoughts. She knows she’s not supposed to, but she can’t help
it and even he is blaming her. She
tells him she needs to be on her own right now. After a while she crawls into bed with him and apologizes.
Pam is in Marrakesh, Morroco playing Russian roulette while
people bet on who will bite the bullet.
She and her competitor engage in interesting conversation about religion
and then the unlucky guy shot himself.
Apparently Pam had to go through all of this to find out a clue about
where Eric is. She enters an
establishment and passes a note to a man along with some cash. He offers her his daughter to drink
because all of the adults are infected, but she takes a pass. He gives her a map of Rhone. She doesn’t think Eric would go there,
but the man tells her the information is correct. What she chooses to do with it is up to her.
At the Bellefleur house, Adeline opens a window and
apologizes to Jessica about Tara.
She tells Jess she has nightmares about the night Jess killed her
sisters. Adeline says she should
hate Jess, but she doesn’t. She
asks Jessica about James and they talk about guys for a minute until they are
interrupted by an HV vamp, wanting to know what Adeline is. Jessica continues the stand off for the
rest of the night, eventually persuading Adeline to drink some of her blood so Jess
will always know where she is.
Dawn comes and Adeline is concerned for Jess, but she will not leave
Adeline unguarded. Finally,
Adeline invites her in to stay in the attic for the day and they leave the HV
vamp out to burn in the sun.
Jason talks to Violet about Tara. They get to the abandoned building and find Vince with a
group of townspeople ready to tar and feather. They threaten Jason, which enrages Violet. She tells them to back off and
threatens them. They finally leave
and Jason gets upset with her. He
stops the car and tells Violet that he is tired of her emasculating him. He is also tired of pleasing her, but
them not having sex. He says they
will have sex then and there. She
tells him she has been waiting for this and they go at it.
James gets Lafayette home and he invites James in. Lafayette says he has to alter his
brain before he can feed James, so they smoke some weed. James says he is sorry about Tara, but
Lafayette says he feels relieved.
He grieved the first time Tara died. James says that all of his friends died in Vietnam. James was a draft dodger and says he is
a pacifist who doesn’t believe in violence in any form. One of his friends died in the war and
he went to his house to pay his respects to the guys parents and the father
beat him with a baseball bat and left him for dead. A vampire found him and turned him.
Willa is trying to console Tara’s mom with the reverend. Lettie Mae thinks she sees Tara and
hears her calling out. The reverend
finally gets her calmed down. He
and Willa have a heart to heart and he thanks her for her help. Willa tells him she has nowhere to
go. Eric is gone, Pam is gone and
now Tara is gone. She was rooming
with Tara, but she can’t take going back there right now. He lets her stay in a storage building
he has which is underground. (Um,
Louisiana is under sea level, they don’t’ have buildings that go underground,
but…)
Bill and Andy check out the meat packing plant. They see immediately that the HV vamps
have been nesting there. They
enter a room and find victims who have been strung up and bled. Andy vomits and leaves the room. Vince and his band of idiots arrive and
pull guns on Bill and Andy. Bill
tells them that Andy is innocent and had nothing to do with the mixer so they
should let him go and take Bill.
They tell Andy to leave because he will not want to see what happens
next, but Andy says he wants to be the one to kill Bill. Vince gives Andy the gun and he turns
on the idiot brigade. Andy and Lou
have a stand off with Andy finally winning, but the idiots say they will be
back for more. Andy drops Bill off
at home and Bill thanks Andy for saving him but Andy says he only did it
because he needs Bill.
Fangtasia has been taken over by the HV vamps and that’s
where Holly, Arlene, Kevin, Nicole and Jane are held captive. Chained up in the basement. They hear the vamps feeding on some
poor human upstairs and freak out.
A vamp comes downstairs and Kevin is the poor soul who gets taken. I really hope Eric and Pam show back up
to kick some ass.
Sookie goes to the meeting at the church the next morning
and tries to comfort Lettie Mae, but she tells Sookie it’s her fault Tara died
and she is not welcome. Sookie
goes to leave, but then tells all of the people that she can hear what they are
thinking. She can’t bring back the
folks who are already gone, but she knows vampires and she wants to help.
End credits…
So dammit, still no word on Eric. I would really think they wouldn’t put this much effort into
it if he weren’t going to turn up at some point. Hopefully to save the day as only Eric can. We’ve seen Bill’s leadership. As always, it’s all about Sookie so I
guess we’ll continue with that, but it looks like Alcide isn’t the only one
vying for her heart and also may not be able to fully protect her.
